A Metal Pergola Arbor Trellis Plan for Your Garden

metal-arborFinding the right metal pergola arbor trellis plan for your garden is a worthwhile and rewarding task.  Once you decide on the material and size that best fits your garden, the rest is easy.  Metal garden structures come in a wide array of materials including wrought iron, copper, steel, and aluminum.  All of these materials are durable and able to withstand all outdoor conditions.  Metal pergolas, arbors, and trellises can be found in many different designs.  Designs like arch, fan, and obelisk are very popular and functional.  Metal materials allow manufacturers to add intricate designs to the structures like curvy patterns, inserts of stained glass, and built in pot holders.  There are many plan possibilities to choose from and finding one that fits your design and style just right should be fairly easy.

Aluminum pergolas require very little to no maintenance.  Most importantly, they are also termite, corrosion, and warp resistant.  The paint is usually baked on so it will never have to be repainted again.  The metal product can be very attractive while also able to hold more weight then wood or vinyl structures.  A built in bench or planter can add function without the danger of warping or toppling over because of the added weight.  Metal products offer you beauty and function in a structure that is made to last many years without the need of regular maintenance and worry of deterioration.

Iron arbors are also very durable and safe to add in a garden.  Most come finished with a powder coating that is designed to withstand year round exposure to the elements.  The structures can be found with built in swings, benches, gates, and planters.  The arbors are designed to add an entryway or focal point to your garden while also providing your climbing plants with a place to grow.  The iron finish easily blends with its surrounding without losing its prominence.  Arbors are a great way to add a little bit of your style to your outdoor spaces.

Copper trellis designs are also made to be durable with long lasting finishes in many different color options.  The trellis plans are specifically made to add decoration and division within your garden.  They can be placed to separate sections or to add privacy to an area.  Trellises can be found in interesting designs including screens, pillars, gates, or attractive garden art.  Most are configured to add beauty, function, and style with a little touch of artistic flair too.  With time the copper finish will turn a greenish color and blend nicely with the plants and its surrounding.

Depending on the metal pergola arbor trellis plan or kit you decide on the rewards are going to be endless.  Metal is a more expensive product but it outlasts any other product on the market.  There are more designs and styles to choose from because the material can be molded much easier then wood.  The details and craftsmanship are exceptionally done with versatility in mind.  The structures can be used for the sole purpose of adding beauty to your garden or for the function of growing plants that need to climb or extra shade to thrive.  Regardless of the reason, you should be very pleased with any metal material you choose.  The investment is well worth the life of the product and the enjoyment it will bring to that area of your property.

Garden arbor, trellis, and pergola plans and kits can be found at garden centers or online.  If you are using a plan to make your own, it is highly recommended that you know how to or become knowledgeable in the proper use of torches, smelters, and other metal working tools.  Kits on the other hand, are designed so anyone can assemble the structure without the need for specialized tools.  Most come with simple instructions and minimal assembly required.

What is the difference between a pergola, arbor, and trellis? Which do you recommend for beginners?

  2. HGrainger says:

Kenisha, an arbor is a structure with two sides and a top, usually with a curved arch as the top. A trellis is similar to a fence in that it does not have a top and is mostly used to build a wall or division between spaces. It can also be placed adjacent to the walls of your home for an added architectural element. A pergola is a larger structure usually covering a patio area. It has a top and two sides like an arbor but much larger. All of these structures have become sort of interchangeable and are sometimes called the same thing because there are so many similar types and styles on the market. Keep in mind that it really doesn’t matter what you call these structures. If you like the way it looks and if it serves the function you are looking for then that it all that should really matter.
